We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Engineering Group Leader to join our Engineering Hub team. This role is located in Pune.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
Strategy Execution, Operating Model & Portfolio Governance – Translate Engineering strategy into an operational roadmap and prioritization for India Engineering with clear milestones, owners, and success metrics aligned to enterprise goals. Drive adoption of pod-based structures aligned to products and platforms in partnership with CIO groups, ETO, and Real Estate/site teams.
Engineering Excellence Measurement & Insights – Analyze and drive improvement actions from scorecards and dashboards across throughput, quality, security, resilience, and cost efficiency. Identify systemic constraints and lead interventions such as automation, reusable patterns, and tooling improvements.
Best Practice Adoption & Execution Discipline - Reduce developer and delivery friction by accelerating adoption of modern engineering practices—CI/CD maturity, automated testing, secure-by-design controls, reliability practices, reference architectures, and fast-path templates (including applied AI where appropriate). Establish closed-loop feedback via reviews, retrospectives, and adoption metrics.
Cross-Functional & Global Stakeholder Alignment - Act as the connecting tissue between Engineering, ESO, People, Finance, Legal, Risk & Compliance, and site functions to enable the workplace environment, controls, and support required for engineering excellence. Harmonize processes, standards, and tools across locations and functions; run decision forums and governance cadences to unblock execution.
Vendor Strategy, Commercial Discipline & Governance - Own the framework for engaging and governing engineering vendors across India and globally. Shift vendor usage from staff augmentation/T&M to outcome-aligned pod delivery. Establish an Engagement Review Board and tollgates for new contracts and renewals, ensuring standardized, measurable KPIs in SOWs. Partner with Engineering Hub, ESO, Finance, Security, and Infrastructure to standardize vendor governance, performance scorecards, ODC controls, and certification/audit frameworks. Drive competitive bidding, rate benchmarking, cost transparency, savings realization, and leadership visibility into optimization levers. Improve vendor talent quality via standardized evaluation and capability alignment; optimize location strategy through co-located vendor pods and reduced location proliferation.
Technical Learning & Capability Development – Support scale of communities of practice, playbooks, coaching, and targeted enablement programs to raise engineering maturity. Ensure teams understand business outcomes and can communicate delivery impact with clear narratives.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
10-15 years of experience in leadership, operations, platform execution, or technology & talent strategy with a track record of improving delivery performance and operational maturity at scale.
Ability to work in a complex and matrix global organizational structure working with non-linear leadership roles and work both with control and influence
Exceptional global stakeholder management and influence skills; ability to align senior leaders and technical teams across functions and geographies.
Understanding of modern software engineering, agile ways of working, platform operating models and pragmatic governance in regulated environments.
Proven expertise in execution metrics and analytics; ability to translate data into insights, decisions, and sustained improvements.
Significant experience designing and operating vendor engagement models, governance, commercial discipline, and outcome-based delivery (pods/product teams).
Bachelor’s degree in Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
