RRVL One Tech, Tech & Product organization of Reliance Retail is seeking a visionary and hands-on Head of UI/UX Design to lead the design of seamless, intuitive, and differentiated omni-channel consumer experiences across its diverse portfolio of online and offline businesses spanning multiple Fashion & Lifestyle brands such as Ajio and Shein, Grocery, Jiomart, Digital, NetMeds, etc. Reliance Retail serves millions of customers daily and is investing aggressively in design, technology, and AI-led experiences to shape the future of retail in India.
This Leadership role will own the end-to-end design strategy - from consumer research and experience definition to interaction design, visual systems, and design execution - across mobile apps, web platforms, in-store digital interfaces, and emerging channels. The ideal candidate will combine strong design leadership, deep customer empathy, and systems thinking with the ability to operate at enterprise scale. This leader will lead and scale a world-class team of researchers and designers to build best in class customer experiences across these multiple businesses.
Key Responsibilities
1. Experience & Design Strategy
Define and drive a unified UX vision for Reliance Retail across all digital and physical consumer touchpoints.
Establish experience principles, design standards, and frameworks that ensure consistency, quality, and scalability across brands and formats.
Translate business strategy and consumer insights into compelling, differentiated experiences that drive engagement, conversion, and loyalty.
Champion customer-centric design thinking across the organization.
2. Leadership & Team Management
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of:
UX Researchers
Interaction Designers
Visual / UI Designers
Create a strong culture of collaboration, craft excellence, experimentation, and continuous learning.
Define clear career paths, performance standards, and skill development plans for the design organization.
Act as a senior design leader and role model across the company.
3. Research & Insights
Oversee qualitative and quantitative UX research across digital and in-store journeys.
Ensure consumer insights inform product strategy, experience design, and prioritization.
Partner with analytics, business, and product teams to connect user behavior, business outcomes, and design decisions.
4. Design Execution & Governance
Own the quality of UX/UI across all consumer-facing and seller-facing platforms, including:
Mobile apps and websites
POS and in-store digital systems
Kiosks, loyalty programs, and assisted commerce tools
Establish and maintain design systems, component libraries, and brand-aligned visual languages.
Implement design review processes to ensure consistency and excellence at scale.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Business, Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Store Design teams.
Influence roadmap decisions by articulating experience trade-offs, risks, and opportunities.
Act as a key stakeholder in major digital transformation and innovation initiatives.
6. Innovation & Future-Ready Design
Stay ahead of trends in UX, retail design, AI-driven experiences, and emerging interaction models.
Explore new ways to blend physical and digital retail experiences.
Pilot and scale innovative concepts that redefine how consumers interact with Reliance Retail.
Ensure excellence in brand expression, accessibility, and usability at scale.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
18+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with at least 5–7 years leading large, multi-disciplinary design teams.
Proven experience delivering consumer-scale products across mobile, web, and/or physical-digital environments.
Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end experience design, systems thinking, and business impact.
Deep understanding of human-centered design, usability, interaction design, and visual design systems.
Experience working in complex, multi-brand or multi-business environments.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate effectively at the executive level.
Preferred
Experience in retail, e-commerce, consumer internet, fintech, or large-scale consumer platforms.
Exposure to omni-channel or physical-digital experience design.
Familiarity with data-driven design and experimentation frameworks.
Experience working in high-growth or transformation-driven organizations.
