Engineering Director/CTO A one of a kind, VC-backed deep-tech company is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to lead the next phase of growth in their revolutionary technology build out. This is a rare opportunity to shape the strategy and execution of cutting-edge industrial systems that are gaining significant attention and commercial traction. What You’ll Do: Define and execute the long-term technology vision across hardware, electrochemical systems, and AI-driven automation Lead a multidisciplinary engineering and R&D team, spanning mechanical, electrical, chemical, environmental, and physics disciplines Drive the research, prototyping, and commercialization of advanced hardware platforms from lab to field deployment Oversee system integration, process optimization, and automation, ensuring scalable, manufacturable solutions Manage technical strategy, regulatory compliance, and IP stewardship, collaborating with partners, academic institutions, and regulators Translate complex scientific principles into practical engineering solutions for industrial applications Experience: Proven leadership of cross-functional engineering teams in high-growth technology environments Deep expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, applied physics, and electrochemistry Hands-on experience with prototype development, pilot deployment, and scale-up of hardware systems Strong understanding of AI/automation integration, process optimization, and advanced control systems Experience with regulatory pathways, standards, and technology validation Exceptional communicator capable of bridging technical depth with business strategy Nice to have: Ph.D. or Master’s in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or Applied Physics 10+ years in water, industrial process, or electrochemical technology or related hardware-intensive sectors This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role for a mission-driven startup where technology and innovation are central to global growth.
