Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in industrial facility design across sectors such as construction, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductor manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems, equipment layouts, and process infrastructure within large-scale industrial projects. This role requires strong proficiency in 3D modeling review, space management, engineering calculations review, and technical coordination to ensure efficient, sustainable, and compliant mechanical designs and on time project completion. Key Responsibilities Review detailed mechanical designs, equipment layouts, and technical drawings for Water System, DI, PCW, WTP, STP, piping systems, pressure vessels, HVAC, rotating and static equipment, and utility distribution. Review thermal, structural, and fluid dynamics analysis to optimize mechanical system performance. Review 3D models, P&IDs, and mechanical schematics using advanced CAD software. Preparation of Material Specification for piping, pumps, valves, compressors, and heat exchangers for various industrial applications. Design process piping, fluid transport, and mechanical utility systems for pharmaceutical, oil & gas, and semiconductor manufacturing facilities. Ensure proper sizing, pressure drop analysis, and flow rate calculations for mechanical pipelines and equipment. Review mechanical infrastructure for critical plant operations, including compressed air, steam, vacuum, and cooling water systems. Perform stress analysis and dynamic simulations to ensure system integrity under operational loads. Select, design, and integrate rotating and static equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and heat exchangers into facility layouts. Ensure proper foundation design, vibration analysis, and mechanical support structures for large-scale equipment. Review equipment installation and maintenance guidelines to enhance plant reliability. Use AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, and Navisworks to create detailed 3D models and layouts for industrial plant construction. Conduct clash detection and coordination with structural, electrical, and process engineering teams. Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to enhance mechanical system designs. Implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodologies to optimize mechanical system coordination. Ensure designs comply with ASME, API, IS, NFPA, ISO, and local construction regulations. Integrate energy-efficient and sustainable practices into mechanical system designs, reducing operational costs and environmental impact. Conduct HAZOP and risk assessments to ensure mechanical systems meet safety and reliability standards. Project Coordination & Execution Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure seamless execution of mechanical designs. Provide technical oversight and troubleshooting during project execution. Develop engineering reports, design justifications, and procurement specifications for mechanical components. Required Technical Skills Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, Navisworks, and BIM 360 for mechanical design. Strong knowledge of piping, pressure vessel design, and industrial utility systems. Proficiency in FEA, CFD, and stress analysis tools for system optimization. Understanding of thermal management, fluid mechanics, and mechanical material selection. Familiarity with ASME, API, IS, ISO, and OSHA standards for industrial mechanical systems. Experience in clash detection and 3D model coordination using Navisworks or similar tools. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution. 08–12 years of experience in mechanical design engineering for construction, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, or semiconductor manufacturing. Proven experience in designing piping systems, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, and industrial utilities. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and cross-disciplinary coordination. Preferred Certifications ASME / API Mechanical Design Certification or equivalent. PMP (Project Management Professional) for project execution. LEED AP / WELL AP Certification for sustainable design. About Micron Technology, Inc.
