At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom, and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition, and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next. About The Team Netflix isn’t just a product; it’s a global entertainment engine. We create our own shows and films, license stories from around the world, and invest billions in content every year. Behind all of that is a sophisticated financial ecosystem: FP&A, content planning, production finance, and more. These teams rely on timely, trustworthy data to decide what we make, where we invest, and how we shape the future of Netflix. That’s where this team and this role come in. Role We’re looking for a Senior (L5) Data Engineer to join the Content Finance DSE team. In this role, you will design, build, and own scalable, resilient data pipelines and data products that power the core of Content Finance planning and systems. The data you create will be used every day in planning cycles to answer questions such as: How should we allocate and adjust content budgets for upcoming forecasting seasons? What signals can inform our long‑term content investment strategy? How do we ensure our financial results are finalized quickly, accurately, and with confidence? Your work will be directly consumed by FP&A, planning, and content accounting teams, spanning Netflix Finance teams from content planning and forecasting to production finance. You will also help define what modern data engineering looks like in this space: shaping your own role, establishing strong data foundations, data modeling, and influencing how we leverage GenAI in the data engineering ecosystem. The systems and products you build will shape how Netflix decides what to fund, where to take risks, and how we grow our content business globally. Location: Los Gatos, CA preferred, but open to Remote Who are you? You write clean, elegant, maintainable code and are comfortable quickly learning new technologies independently. You are proficient in at least one major programming language (e.g., Java, Scala, Python) and are very comfortable working with SQL. You are a strong data modeler who can design clear, scalable, and future-proof data models that serve multiple use cases across finance and beyond. You think broadly about systems: you understand the complexities of integrating with many upstream and downstream systems, and you can reason about data flows, contracts, and trade-offs across those systems. You have a strong product mindset: you think beyond pipelines to the end users, the decisions they need to make, and how data products can unlock value. You have a strong background in at least one of the following areas: distributed data processing, software engineering of data services, or data modeling and data warehousing. You are familiar with big data technologies such as Spark or Flink and are comfortable working with very large, web-scale datasets. You have strong data intuition, a keen eye for detail, and a deep passion for data quality, reliability, and correctness, including clear documentation, robust data contracts, and effective debugging practices. You are curious and open to leveraging modern and emerging technologies, including GenAI and next‑generation AI tools, where they make sense and create durable value. You resonate with the Netflix Culture and enjoy working independently while also collaborating closely, giving and receiving candid, constructive feedback. Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $380,000.00 - $610,000.00. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off. Full-time salaried e
