Come be a part of our journey!ClickHouse is seeking an engineering manager to lead our team of software engineers based in China who own our partnership with Alibaba Cloud.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and lead a high-performing technical team in China, fostering a culture of technical excellence and customer obsessionSupport Alibaba Cloud & ClickHouse partnership with deep technical expertise, driving integration, optimization, and go-to-market strategiesLead enterprise customer POCs from architecture design to production deployment, translating business requirements into scalable technical solutionsDesign PB-scale real-time data warehouse architectures, leveraging ClickHouse's exceptional performance for mission-critical workloadsPartner with global Sales, Product, and Engineering teams, representing customer needs and driving product innovationRepresent ClickHouse at technical conferences, meetups, and community events in ChinaRequired QualificationsFluent English and Mandarin for seamless technical discussions with global teams and Chinese customersOutstanding customer-facing communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships at all organizational levelsDeep database expertise - internals, query optimization, distributed systems, OLAP technologiesStrong architecture design capabilities for large-scale, mission-critical data platformsPB-scale real-time data warehouse hands-on experience building and operating production systemsCloud-Native proficiency - solid experience with cloud-native architecture and infrastructure, with hands-on knowledge of at least one major cloud service provider (AWS, GCP, Azure, Alibaba Cloud)Team leadership experience managing technical teams of 10+ engineers8+ years in database/data warehouse/big data technologiesHigh level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability - thrives in a high-velocity environment with significant autonomyFounder's mindset with a focus on impact, innovation, and delivering measurable resultsPreferred QualificationsClickHouse community contributor - active participation through code, documentation, or advocacyExperience with columnar databases (ClickHouse, Druid, Pinot) and real-time analytics systemsKubernetes expertise - practical experience deploying and managing stateful applications on K8s at scaleData engineering skills - strong background in ETL pipelines, data replication, CDC, and streaming platforms (Kafka, Flink, Spark)Technical writing/speaking experience - blogs, conference presentations, technical documentationOpen-source contributions in the database or cloud-native ecosystemExceptional problem-solving skills with proven experience debugging complex production issuesCompensationFor roles based in the United States, the typical starting salary range for this position is listed above. In certain locations, such as the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York City Metro Area, a premium market range may apply, as listed.These salary ranges reflect what we reasonably and in good faith believe to be the minimum and maximum pay for this role at the time of posting.
