JavaScript is the foundation of web development, running in every browser and increasingly on servers via Node.js. Virtually every frontend role requires JavaScript proficiency, and fullstack positions expect comfort across both client and server-side JS. The ecosystem includes React, Vue, Angular, and dozens of build tools, testing frameworks, and utility libraries.

Because JavaScript is so fundamental, job listings rarely list it as a standalone requirement. Instead, they specify frameworks built on it. That said, deep JavaScript knowledge (closures, async patterns, the event loop, prototypal inheritance) remains a differentiator in interviews. Senior JS engineers in the US earn $130k-$180k, while Bharat-based roles range from 10-28 LPA. TypeScript has become the expected companion skill.
