We do this while maintaining Akamai's mission at the forefront of what we do: make life better for billions of people, billions of times a day.Partner with the bestAs a Senior Linux Site Reliability Engineer, you will specialize in creating solutions that help improve automation and efficiencies across the Database team. You will be expected to drive automation, operational excellence, and support our customer facing database and infrastructure. This will require creative thinking combined with deep domain expertise in the areas of Linux systems administration, configuration management, performance tuning, and hardware engineering.As a Senior Linux SRE, you will be responsible for:Providing support and mentorship for other engineers within the departmentDefining requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence the new designs and standardsProviding support, leadership and motivation for project teamsCollaborating with our support, operations and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problemsImproving our system monitoring and analysis platform to speed error detection and remediation, enhancing performance and reliabilityParticipating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issuesDo what you loveTo be successful in this role you will:A degree in Computer Science or a related fieldExperience gathering and analyzing observability metrics (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana)Experience defining alert postures to cover informational through critical alerts Knowledge of TCP/IP networkingExpert level experience in a DevOps, Development, or SysAdmin role, with both bare metal and virtualized environmentsExperience with MySQL, SaltStack for configuration management, architecting software and infrastructure at scaleExperience with automationAbility to work in alignment with (or contribute to) strategic business initiatives and coordinate and guide the work of other engineersExcellent communication, mentorship, and interpersonal skillsStrong opinions on technology and software design to bring to the tableAbout usAt Akamai, we make life better for billions of people, trillions of times a day.
