Software Engineer (SDE I) – Backend (C++)

Job Description Role Context As a Software Engineer (SDE I) – Backend (C++), you will begin your career by building real production backend systems as part of the FLX ONE Cargo (F1C) engineering team. This role focuses on developing strong fundamentals in C++ programming, system-level thinking, and backend development through hands-on coding. You will work closely with Senior Engineers and Tech Leads, contributing to backend services while learning best practices in performance, reliability, and production engineering. Hands-On Development ● Implement backend services and components using C++. ● Contribute to system-level functionality under guidance from senior engineers. ● Write clean, maintainable, and production-ready code following established patterns. Feature Contribution ● Deliver well-scoped features or components from implementation through testing. ● Fix bugs and improve existing functionality with attention to quality and correctness. ● Apply modular design principles to keep code clean and maintainable. Quality & Engineering Discipline ● Write unit tests and participate in code reviews to improve code quality. ● Learn and follow engineering best practices around version control, testing, and deployment. ● Develop an understanding of how your code behaves in production environments. Learning & Growth ● Learn system design, cloud fundamentals, and operational practices through hands-on work. ● Pair with senior engineers to accelerate learning and problem-solving skills. ● Actively seek feedback and continuously improve technical skills. What You Must Bring ● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. ● Internship, academic, or project experience in software development. ● Basic proficiency in C++ or strong foundational programming skills with willingness to work in C++. ● Foundational understanding of object-oriented programming and data structures. ● Strong curiosity, learning mindset, and willingness to take ownership. Nice to Have ● Basic understanding of cloud concepts or experience with AWS. ● Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows. ● Experience using AI-assisted coding tools to learn faster or improve productivity.
