Cloudera Platform Administrator (24x7 Operations – Banking)

OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Cloudera Platform Administrator to manage, support, and maintain a large-scale Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) environment within a 24x7 banking operations setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience in Cloudera platform administration, Hadoop ecosystem management, Linux systems administration, cluster operations, security management, performance tuning, and production support. This role focuses on ensuring platform stability, availability, scalability, and security across Production, Disaster Recovery (DR), UAT, SIT, and Development environments.ResponsibilitiesCloudera Platform AdministrationAdminister and support Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters across multiple environments.Manage and maintain Hadoop ecosystem services including HDFS, YARN, Hive, Impala, Spark, Kafka, NiFi, ZooKeeper, Oozie, Ranger, Atlas, and Hue.Perform cluster provisioning, configuration, expansion, decommissioning, and lifecycle management.Execute Cloudera platform upgrades, patches, hotfix deployments, and version migrations.Monitor cluster health, resource utilization, and platform performance using Cloudera Manager and monitoring tools.Perform capacity planning, storage management, and infrastructure optimization.Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for the Cloudera environment.Platform Operations (24x7 Support)Provide 24x7 operational support for critical banking data platforms.Monitor alerts, incidents, and service requests to ensure SLA compliance.Perform incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and problem management.Support production deployments, change management, and release activities.Participate in on-call support rotations and major incident management activities.Conduct routine health checks, preventive maintenance, and operational housekeeping activities.Security & GovernanceAdminister authentication and authorization mechanisms including LDAP, Active Directory, Kerberos, Ranger, and SSO integrations.Manage platform security configurations, certificates, encryption, and access controls.Support security audits, vulnerability remediation, compliance reviews, and regulatory requirements.Ensure adherence to banking security standards and governance policies.Infrastructure & Performance ManagementAdminister Linux servers supporting the Cloudera platform.Troubleshoot infrastructure issues involving CPU, memory, storage, networking, and distributed services.Optimize Hadoop and Cloudera services for performance, scalability, and high availability.Manage cluster resource allocation, workload balancing, and performance tuning.Work closely with infrastructure, database, network, and application teams to resolve platform issues.Documentation & Continuous ImprovementMaintain operational runbooks, technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and support procedures.Drive automation initiatives for monitoring, maintenance, deployment, and operational activities.Contribute to service improvement initiatives and operational excellence programs.Required Skills & Experience5+ years of hands-on experience administering Cloudera CDP/CDH platforms in enterprise environments.Strong experience managing Hadoop ecosystem components including:HDFSYARNHiveImpalaSparkKafkaNiFiZooKeeperRangerAtlasHueStrong experience with Cloudera administration and cluster operations.Proven experience performing:Cluster installation and deploymentPlatform upgrades and migrationsPatch managementCapacity planningPerformance tuningDisaster recovery supportStrong Linux/Unix administration experience (RHEL/CentOS preferred).Strong knowledge of distributed systems architecture and troubleshooting.Experience with security administration including LDAP, Active Directory, Kerberos, TLS/SSL certificates, Ranger, and SSO integration.Experience supporting mission-critical production environments with strict SLA requirements.Strong understanding of networking concepts, storage infrastructure, and high-availability architectures.Experience with monitoring and observability tools.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Preferred SkillsBanking or financial services industry experience.Experience with Cloudera Private Cloud or Cloudera Public Cloud.Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or containerized platform deployments.Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.Experience with automation and scripting using Shell, Python, or Ansible.Familiarity with DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.Cloudera Certified Administrator (CCA) or equivalent certification.Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data platforms with 100+ node clusters.Originally posted on Himalayas
